Are Dandelions Good for Rabbits? (February 2018)

Rabbits are lovers of vegetables such as carrots and lettuce, but what about things we can find outdoors?

Can rabbits eat dandelions?

Let’s find out.

Are Dandelions Good for Rabbits?

Yes, rabbits can eat dandelions! They are actually very healthy for rabbits, too.

Rabbits require fiber in their diet as an essential aspect that goes toward a normal, healthy digestive system that functions as it should.

In comparison to carrots, dandelions actually contain more beta-carotene, which is great for a rabbit’s health.

Dandelions also contain iron, calcium, potassium, biotin, inositol, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin B’s 1, 2, 5, 6, 12 and vitamin C, E, and D.

How Much Dandelion Can a Rabbit Have?

As a general rule of thumb, rabbits can have between 2 to 4 cups of vegetables per day.

Even though vegetables are healthy for rabbits, this guideline is in placed based on their weight to ensure overfeeding does not occur. This can do a heck of a lot more harm than it could do good.

The Health Benefits of Feeding Your Rabbit Dandelions

Dandelions help to promote respiratory and digestive health, while also acting as a natural tonic for the body.

If you have a stressed rabbit a dandelion may just do the trick – they actually help take some stress of bunnies, for some reason.

Lastly, dandelions are the perfect solution for helping to prevent osteoporosis.
